FROM VA TO LV

From VA to LV, it’s bigger than me.

“Never forget where you came from, but never forget what you came for.”

When we started this thing of ours, the goal was always to make pieces we’d want to wear. This 1st GGU piece back is exclusively for my groomsmen and will be debuted during my bachelor trip — can’t wait to surprise the bros with these! They don’t know it yet, but we’re about to mob around Vegas in these THIS weekend.

If you’re reading this, we are SO back.

Let’s get into the details:

It’s a 7.5oz heavyweight, drop shoulder tee, with a slightly oversized fit.

From the front: It’s calm, it’s a high-quality plain black tee.

On the back: It’s a statement that pays homage to our roots and the fruits of our labor. Take a look around, it’s different now.

“From VA to LV” has multiple meanings, it’s a quadruple entendre: God Got Us wherever we go, it’s where we’re doing a joint bach trip, it’s where we’re moving after the wedding, and it’s also a nod to Pharrell and his journey to becoming Creative Director of Louis Vuitton. VA is a special place, they say it’s something in the water.

MOCKUPS CREATED IN 2016.

Cooked these jawns up a minute ago. Imagine if we released these back then. The quality of our mockups are far more advanced now, but we been had vision. Everything happens when it’s supposed to — God’s Plan.

GOOD ON ANY MLK BOULEVARD

Last Saturday, we led the annual MLK Parade in Uptown Charlotte, NC with the rest of our brothers. It was foggy, cold, with periods of light rain — felt like Gotham City and we loved it. The best part about this day is that we premiered two new GGU sample products:

GGU MLK MARCH.JPG

The Dove Logo Beanies & The GGU Face Masks.

Both items received positive feedback, and definitely kept us warm during the parade. The face mask serves a purpose, but we noticed that they make people nervous.

“Are you sick?“ — Nah, in Sicko Mode.

“Are you cold?“ — Ice Cold, baby.

GGU strives to be on the cutting edge of fashion/streetwear.

The masks are inspired by the Asian culture. In Japan, they began to wear surgical masks in the early 20th century to combat an influenza outbreak.

In 2002-2006, the U.S. was introduced to the surgical masks being worn in public. during the outbreaks of SARS and The Bird Flu. Asians in NYC could be seen wearing the masks on the 7 Train that connects Manhattan to Queens.

Today, the face masks primarily serve as a fashion statement. They’ve been spotted in Paris during Fashion Week, LA, NYC, and now CLT where we are headquartered.
